{"id":431,"date":"2021-01-23T11:41:26","date_gmt":"2021-01-23T11:41:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/knight.domains\/support\/uncategorized\/what-are-the-technical-requirements-limitations-of-state-university\/"},"modified":"2022-07-15T19:56:42","modified_gmt":"2022-07-15T19:56:42","slug":"technical-requirements-limitations-of-knight-domains","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/knight.domains\/support\/technical-requirements-limitations-of-knight-domains\/","title":{"rendered":"Technical Requirements\/Limitations of Knight.Domains?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>St. Norbert College uses a Web server known as a <strong>LAMP server<\/strong>. \u201cLAMP\u201d is an acronym for the technology stack that is installed on the server:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"level1\">\n<div class=\"li\"><strong>L<\/strong>inux: This is the open-source operating system that is used on the server.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level1\">\n<div class=\"li\"><strong>A<\/strong>pache: This is the Web server software that the server uses.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level1\">\n<div class=\"li\"><strong>M<\/strong>ySQL: This is the database software that the server uses.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level1\">\n<div class=\"li\"><strong>P<\/strong>hp\/Perl\/Python: These are the three programming languages that the server can interpret.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Generally, if you are using applications available to install by default through the knight.domains, you shouldn&#8217;t need to worry about these technical details. All of the software that is available for installation (in cPanel) meets the technical requirements.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re interested in finding\/installing another application (that isn&#8217;t available through our automatic installer tool), then you&#8217;ll have to be sure that the server can support it. To start with, you&#8217;ll want to be sure that the Web application can run on a LAMP server. Check the technical requirements for the application to determine this. You&#8217;ll also need to do some research about whether there are any additional services or modules required on the server. Some software may require components that aren&#8217;t included in the default installation of the LAMP stack.
